Gog, Steam and Epic start Black Friday Game Sales: our top 3 picks

There has been a huge increase in sales in recent years, especially so in gaming. Black Friday game sales have started on many gaming platforms, including Gog, Steam and Epic Games.

Here is the rundown on what you can expect:

  • Gog: Gog’s sale runs until November 30, 2021.
  • Steam: Valve’s Steam platform runs until December 1, 2021.
  • Epic Games: The sale on the Epic Games Store runs until November 30, 2021.

Gog is the only one of the three that is running time-limited flash sales. Game sales are not time-limited during the Black Friday sale on the other two platforms.  Below are our top 3 picks for each of the stores.

Gog Black Friday Games Sale

Let’s get started with the Gog offering.

  • Cyberpunk 2077 — After a botched start, especially on consoles, the game is finally getting into shape. Expect the first major DLC next year, and continued improvements throughout. The game is available for $33.84 on Gog currently.
  • Stellaris — If you want an epic 4x space game, Stellaris is certainly one that you may want to check out. It suffers a bit from DLC overload, but that is true for most Paradox Interactive games. This is the base game, which gives you hundreds of hours of playtime. The game is available for $11.27 during the sale. DLCs are also discounted, may be worth a look.
  • A Plague Tale: Innocence — The game is a beautiful adventure game with action elements that plays in 1349 in France. You follow the story of two siblings who are hunted by the inquisition. The game is available for $11.27 currently.

Epic Games Store Sale

Here are the three suggestions from the Epic Games Store.

  • Hitman 3 — I always enjoyed games in the Hitman series. While the AI is arguably not the brightest, it is still a fun game to play, especially since you get lots of options to complete your assassination missions. It is a game for adults, because of the theme. Note that there are add-ons available that add more missions and content to the game. It is available for €23.99 during the sale.
  • Read Dead Redemption II — Rockstar Games’ second Western-style game offers everything that you come to expect from GTA-style games. A wide open world, lots of choices and options, and an interesting story that you follow. The game is available for €29.99 currently.
  • World War Z Aftermath — I enjoyed the first World War Z game, which you could play with human players in coop or alone with the AI. This new game in the universe plays just like the first.  Lots of zombies in this one. Get if for €29.99 during the sale.

Steam Store Black Friday Sales

Here are my top three choices from this year’s Steam Sale on Black Friday.

  • Europa Universalis IV — Play four centuries in this grand strategy game. Lead a nation, master diplomacy, trade and war. The base game can be expanded with lots of DLCs. The base game is available for €9.99 during the sale.
  • FTL: Faster Than Light — FTL is probably the game that I played the most in this year. It is a strategy game in which you command a spaceship that is trying to escape pursuers, and defeating the enemy mothership in the end. Get different ship designs, alien crewmembers, weapons and enhancements for your spaceship. It can be very frustrating at times, but it is still fun to play. Available for just €2.49 during the sale.
  • King’s Bounty: Crossworlds — Arguably the best King’s Bounty game. It is an enhanced version of King’s Bounty: Armored Princess. It is a turn-based combat game, not unlike Heroes of Might and Magic games. You explore the world, find treasure, equip your character, spend skill points, get good at magic, or not, and more. If you like this kind of game, you can spend hundreds of hours playing it. It is available for just €3.74 currently, and definitely the better choice when compared to the new King’s Bounty II game that just came out.
